I'm thrilled to have been invited to be a guest speaker at the wonderful Great Books Summer Program at Stanford. I'll be talking about travel writing and journaling and trying to bring kids from grades 6-12 into the travel-writing fold!

GBSP is an academic camp for 6th to 12th graders at Stanford, Amherst and Oxford. Called "a community of precocious thinkers" by The Wall Street Journal,it is a multi-week series centering on the discussion of themes in classic and contemporary literature, with electives in creative writing, acting, music and art. The Program serves students, some on scholarship, from 27 countries across the globe and uses the Socratic Method to help them recognize their own best thoughts, to develop their ideas with care, and practice reflective reading and critical thinking.
