The New Yorker!

It was a singular thrill and a day I never thought would come, seeing my name in the New Yorker. But it happened, because the incomparable (and Pulitzer Prize-winning) Kathryn Schultz wrote a comprehensive feature about my sisters and co-authors, Blake and Jen, their restaurant, Hell’s Backbone Grill in Boulder, Utah, and their fight to save the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument. And Kathryn was kind enough to mention me and both of our cookbooks!

Here’s what she said:

“With Spalding’s sister Lavinia, a travel writer and a former Hell’s Backbone employee, Castle and Spalding have also produced two cookbooks, “With a Measure of Grace,” in 2004, and “This Immeasurable Place,” in 2017, which feature profiles of Boulder residents and the restaurant’s staff as centrally as recipes.”

If you want to treat yourself to a truly remarkable read, here’s the whole article.
