Playing by Heart: my first feature for AFAR Magazine

I’ve honestly never been more excited for a magazine story to come out. This story, a feature in the July/August issue of AFAR magazine, is deeply meaningful to me, and I’ll admit I’m really proud of it. AFAR sent me to Spain to pursue an old abandoned childhood passion, which resulted in the incredible opportunity to study with three of the top female flamenco guitarists in Spain. I traveled to Madrid, Granada, and Barcelona, and I will never forget my experience, which was truly life-changing. I hope you enjoy the story, which you can read here.

Your travel life has the essence of a dream. It is something outside the normal, yet you are in it. It is peopled with characters you have never seen before and in all probability will never see again. It brings occasional homesickness, and loneliness, and pangs of longing... But you are like the Vikings or the master mariners of the Elizabethan age, who have gone into a world of adventure, and home is not home until you return.” –Agatha Christie
